Should I forgive him if he cheated?

Me and my boyfriend were together for almost 2 years..a couple of weeks ago he went to wet n wild with his best friend, met a girl, told her he was single, went to her house, and kissed her, came home that night and broke up with me. he sys because he felt so bad about it, now he's trying to get me back, calling, texting, crying, saying how bad he messed up and how bad he wants me back..today he told me that he wanted to start over so he asked me on our "first date" tomorrow night..i said i would go to see what he has to say..but idk..i'm really confused..i'm only 17 and he's 18 so i've never been through this before..i love him so much.and how weird it may sound..i still want to be with him..but idk if it's the right thing..i told him if i EVER did take him back it would be a while from now because he would have to PROVE to me that he loves me as much as he says. and that he will be loyal. Should I take him back? take it slow? Or forget about him? HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!! thanks<3
